"In this life, it is important to combine the gifts of the Eagle with the gifts of the Condor. We need to fly with both powers: the power of the Eagle - which is the power of the mind, including the gifts of science and technology, and the power of the Condor - which is the power of the heart, including the gifts of feeling and connection with the elements of the Earth. These two powers - mind and heart, Eagle and Condor - are also inside us. They need to fly together inside each one of us. The power of the Eagle is to think and to plan. The power of the Condor is to feel and to connect. The sky is our daily lives. To fly is to enjoy each moment of our life, and from this experience of life, to continually and spontaneously express gratitude."
— From Friendship with the Elements by Taita Iachak Alverto Taxo
The Elders of the Kichwa tradition of the High Andes have kept their wisdom, their music and their ways alive, despite 500 years of persecution and the systematic attempt to eliminate their way of life. Throughout these last 500 years, a prophecy has been passed on from generation to generation of a time when the Eagle and the Condor would fly together in the same sky, in balance and harmony. In this tradition the Eagle represents the power of the mind and of material wealth and is most embodied by the people of the North. The Condor represents the power of the heart, and of feeling, and is most embodied in the people of the South. But both powers lie within us all. The Elders say that now is the time when they can come into balance in the world and within each one of us, allowing us to fly with their united powers. This is the awaited time.
This website is dedicated to sharing the wisdom of the Andean tradition, and some of the ways in which the eagle and condor are now beginning to fly together to create balance and harmony, within each person and within our world.
